Christmas Tour of Lights and Contest to Brighten Up Historic Waxahachie
December 4 – 19, 2020
An Exciting Holiday Lighting Contest Featuring Area Historic-Style Homes
Historic Waxahachie, Inc. hosted the Christmas Tour of Lights this year in place of its annual home tour. The voting period for the contest ran December 4-19, 2020. “We want to give back to our community,” explained Emily Glidewell-Finch, President of HWI, “But we also want to ensure the safety of everyone. After careful consideration, we decided to cancel the annual home tour and, instead, replace it with an opportunity to brighten the lives of our residents and bring in visitors.”
Historic Waxahachie, Inc., invited residents to participate in a holiday lighting contest and driving tour of Waxahachie’s historic style homes by decorating their homes with festive décor and of course, lights! The contest was open to all residents whose homes are 50 years or older. Any homeowner interested in participating was asked to make sure their address was visible. Onlookers were the judges as they had the opportunity to vote. A special collector’s program book and ballot boxes were located in participating Waxahachie shops and restaurants. A list of these locations can be found in the Christmas Tour of Lights Program Book.
Voting ended December 19th.
The community voted for their favorite light display by submitting a ballot or by voting via this website.
The top three winners received cash prizes and voters were entered for a gift basket drawing.
The Christmas Tour of Lights was made possible by sponsors Baylor Scott & White Hospital and Ellis County Title Company who are partners in lighting up the community and brightening the holiday season.
