The Legends Baseball Mural was completed in 2014 on the north side of the Parks and Recreation Building at the corner of Elm and Madison streets in downtown Waxahachie. This mural depicts the history of baseball in Waxahachie, from the days of major league teams holding spring training here to our great Waxahachie High and SAGU teams.
Historic Waxahachie Inc. (HWI) was responsible for the completion of this mural. Over a period of 2 years, the Board of HWI planned, researched, developed and designed the concept for this mural which was then painted and brought to life by Eyecon. The mural was completely funded by HWI.
The Board of HWI felt that the Parks and Recreation Building was a perfect spot to have a Baseball Mural because it represents a sport that is so important to our community. One of the goals of HWI is to ensure that we tell the story of the history of Waxahachie. This mural certainly does that. Historic Waxahachie Inc. is very proud of this mural because it will be something that the community will enjoy for many years. Eyecon, the company that painted the mural, did a fantastic job. HWI hopes to do more projects like this in the future.
